Clinical Focus / Interest:
Karina’s practice has always focused on sports injuries. As a former national level competitive swimmer, she understands the hard work and determination that is required by athletes and individuals overcoming injuries. She is committed to providing the best evidence-based treatment to her clients and for this reason has always been involved with her professional organizations and research projects. She really enjoys seeing her clients get back to their full potential and doing what it is they are passionate about.
With a special interest in treating individuals with concussions and vestibular disorders (dizziness & balance problems), she is uniquely qualified to address the persistent symptoms that accompany these conditions. She has advanced vestibular training and is able to assess individuals using infrared goggles to determine the cause of their dizziness. She provides treatment for displaced otoconia and prescribe exercises to minimize her client’s vestibular dysfunction and motion sensitivity.
Karina piloted Centric Health’s Concussion Program as the BC Clinical Leader of Concussion Management. She developed their internal training program on post-concussion syndrome and has taught therapists across the country. She has also presented to numerous community, sport, and school groups on the risks and management of concussions.
